Visit to BENRIDO in Kyoto
Mr. Honda from AKATSUKI SHABO and I visited Kyoto’s “BENRIDO Corporation,” a world-renowned collotype manufacturer.
Collotype is a pigment-based photographic printing technique invented in France in the mid-19th century, shortly after the birth of photography.
This world’s oldest printing technique is truly a traditional technology supported by craftsmanship and sensitivity.
During the tour, Mr. Fujiki told us many stories, and we participated in a workshop together (both of us were more serious than ever while working!) We had a fulfilling day. Thank you very much for your guidance, Mr. Yamamoto and Mr. Satake.
Mr. Convenido runs a workshop called “Collotype Academy”.
